Mechanical Engineering is a sub-science of engineering that implement physical principles for analyzing, designing, developing, generating, operating, device and mechanical components maintaining. Generally, some peoples presume that mechanical engineering only offers things related with machines or engines, so it’s often heard that engineering mechanics closely analogized with automotive field. in fact, machines and automotive only little parts of mechanical engineering fields. It widely covers: structure analysis, kinematics, dynamics, thermodynamics, material engineering, energy conversion, thermal and fluids techniques, metrology, industrial automation, meca-tronics , robotics and manufacture.

This department was established in 1999 with manufacturing technology as its concentration. Manufacturing is a field that learns about the production process of a product, started from designing to the quality control process. By selecting manufacturing technology as its concentration, Mechanical Engineering is actively participated in development and the implementation of manufacturing technology to reinforce local manufacturing industry in order to raise Indonesian competitiveness.
